Available for New Mexico Film & Television Productions

Palovista Ranch is available for commercial, film, television, and catalog productions desiring a pristine wilderness setting a short distance from Santa Fe and northern New Mexico's many renowned travel destinations. The ranch was most recently used as a set location for the film Appaloosa starring Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Renee Zellweger.

Our family-owned property is unique for its wild, yet easily accessible beauty. Situated close against the 1.7 billion-year-old La Madera range, the ranch encompasses 1750 privately owned acres located just one hour north of Santa Fe, one hour west of Taos and 3 miles from the famed Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs spa. Over 100 hotels rooms are a 25-minute drive away in Espanola. The luxury rooms and casitas of Rancho de San Juan are just 15 minutes to the south on Route 285.

Palovista Ranch comprises plateau desert land surrounded on three sides by either Carson National Forest, NM state land, or the Bureau of Land Management. Few homes or structures intrude upon breathtaking vistas that stretch over 100 miles. The ranch contains an astonishing assortment of land formations in a relatively compact area. Features include a mile of Vallecitos river, cliffs, mountains, spring-washed caves, fields, mesas, hills, arroyos, a box canyon, wetlands, ponderosa pine and pinon/juniper forest, cottonwoods, large and deep springfed ponds, dirt roads, a rustic barn and stable, old adobe homes, and corrals. Large truck parking is plentiful.

We invite you to consider using Palovista Ranch in your next production and welcome your inquiries. For more information contact Hope Atterbury in Santa Fe at
